Victoria's Secret was founded by Roy Raymond in San Francisco, CA, in 1977. He began with a single location at the Stanford Shopping Center - which quickly grew to three stores - before launching the now famous VS catalog. Raymond sold the company in 1982, failed in his next business venture miserably, and jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge shortly after declaring banruptcy.
His original vision for Victoria's Secret however lived on and grew to become bigger than he ever would have imagined. With over 1,100 Victoria's Secret stores in the U.S. and about $5 billion in annual sales, Victoria's Secret has become the iconic supplier of intimate apparel the world over. Their catalog is one of the most distrubuted in the U.S., and their fashion shows have become prime -time evnts on television. So far as the models go, it is like a list of greats and one of the most coveted jobs in the industry.
